He also believed that the social circle of a patient may also be greatly responsible for the condition of an inferiority complex. He concluded that feelings of inferiority may as a result of physical appearances, social status and other incidents that may occur during one's life. It is after this when he started developing studies about individual psychology and the inferiority complex.ĭuring his study, he had said that "the greater the feeling of inferiority that has been experienced, the more powerful is the urge for conquest and the more violent the emotional agitation". These meetings soon became a regular event as they would meet every Wednesday. In 1902, Sigmund Freud invited Alfred Adler to his home along with a few others to discuss various topics pertaining to psychology. Soon after, he became fascinated by the field of psychiatry. The fact that Alfred was suffering from Rickets at a young age, was the primary motivation for him to become a physician after his graduation from the University of Vienna.
